The project was completed in association with Montgomery Watson Harza Engineers and includes an 18,400 sf new building with analytical laboratory space, administrative and office support spaces, laboratory support, and mechanical/electrical support space. The west elevation of the building is designed to relate architecturally to the District Headquarters building located across North Pond, hence the sloped standing seam metal roofs. In keeping with the District’s vision, the design of this facility incorporated many green elements, including maximizing natural daylight, water-conserving plumbing fixtures, Title 24 Energy Code Conservation compliance, shading devices, tinted glass windows, and light-colored roof to reduce heat gain, native drought tolerant plant material and channeling all stormwater runoff contaminants to a water quality detention basin before discharge into the river.
Location: San Jose, CA
Total Gross Building Area: 18,400 sf
Owner: Santa Clara Valley Water District
