Mission Creek Community is an urban, mixed-use community integrating 140 units of affordable senior housing with an adult day health center, a branch of the San Francisco Public Library, a public meeting facility, a dining room, offices, retail, and four levels of rooftop gardens. The project is prominently located at one of the main entrances into Mission Bay, a new San Francisco neighborhood created from a former rail yard. An integrated Day Health Center serving the residents and community, offers meals, medical care, and social activities. Large roof gardens create protected exterior space. The apartments have open plans to meet mobility needs; living and sleeping rooms are separated by translucent sliding screens – rather than doors – for privacy with natural light. The combination of its mixed-use components create a vibrant community that has a positive impact on the lives of both the residents and community at large.
