This new senior community is located on what was previously a Central freeway off-ramp and includes 100 apartments for low and very-low income seniors, with 20 units set aside for homeless seniors under the Department of Public Health’s Direct Access to Housing program. The community includes administrative and service provider offices, a multi-purpose room, a commercial/retail area with provisions for a commercial kitchen as well as a large, ground floor courtyard and several elevated terraces. The project honors the memory of Mary Helen Rogers, a long-time community activist for the Western Addition neighborhood.
