The Kimochi San Mateo Home rehabilitates, revitalizes and refreshes an existing nursing home. The original skilled nursing building was completed in 1961 and housed 34 residents in 14 rooms. The rehabilitated facility will provide assisted living care and substantially reduce the number of residents to 14 in 11 rooms. Modifications to the outside of the building include demolishing a 270 square foot sub-standard addition on the north side of the building and replacing it with a 531 square feet addition.
The interior will reuse many existing walls while adding full bathrooms to each room, updating the kitchen, and providing two offices, a lounge and activity/dining room. Complete new finishes will be provided and the aesthetics of the interior will be simple, clean and warm with wood trim and new skylights.
