At the College of Marin, two existing auto shop buildings were transformed into a new 18,000-square-foot Transportation Technology Complex. The Transportation Technology Complex provides vital program offerings in vehicle repair training, reflecting the College of Marin’s commitment to workforce education. A new addition acts as a gateway to the reconfigured facilities. This addition links the existing buildings and provides office and student support spaces. The existing building interiors have been updated with all new equipment and building systems. While the existing buildings’ shell and footprint are relatively unchanged, the design modifies the roofing system to support new solar panels and clerestory glazing for improved daylighting and ventilation.
