At the College of Marin, two existing auto shop buildings were transformed into a new 18,000-square-foot Transportation Technology Center. The Transportation Technology Center provides vital program offerings in vehicle repair training, reflecting the College of Marin’s commitment to workforce education. A new addition is a gateway to the reconfigured facilities, links the existing buildings and provides office and student support spaces. The existing building interiors were updated with all new equipment and building systems. While the existing buildings’ shell and footprint were relatively unchanged, the design modifies the roofing system to support new solar panels and clerestory glazing for improved day-lighting and ventilation.
Location: Kentfield, CA
Total Gross Building Area: 18,000 sf
Sustainability: LEED Silver
Owner: College of Marin
