The first completed project in the Sunnydale housing complex redevelopment, this 55-unit affordable family community provides a landmark and entry gateway to the rest of the complex. The tight site required highly efficient planning to meet its programmatic needs. The five-story building is integrated into the existing residential neighborhood through carefully considered massing elements. The design features a dramatic corner feature and transparent ground-level entry with lively patterns and colors. Two-story details expressing ground-level living units accentuate and maintain the existing two-story neighborhood fabric along Hahn Avenue and the building steps down toward the houses. HKIT was the Executive Architect with Y.A. Studio as the Associate Architect.
