Viamonte at Walnut Creek

Walnut Creek, CA

Viamonte is a life plan community consisting of 191 independent, assisted living, and memory care apartments, and is the first upscale aging-in-place senior residence in Walnut Creek. It is designed to provide active, independent seniors the opportunity to thrive in a community with many amenities and access to various levels of care as they age.

The project had four ambitious goals: creating a healthy environment that supports active living and wellness; integrating the residence into the larger development; inspiring a strong sense of community among residents; and sustaining a vision of environmental stewardship.

To create an open, active senior community, generously-sized apartments were designed with large windows, balconies, corner windows, and views of two heritage Oak trees that forge a connection to the site’s rich natural history. Active lifestyle amenities include a swimming pool and spa, indoor/outdoor fitness space, demonstration kitchen, art room, gardens, and bocce ball court.

Main building façades are characterized by a lively pattern of projections and recesses animated by balconies and large glazing while secondary façades shift to smaller masses delineated by deep recesses and materiality variations
