Pleasanton Unified School District Facilities Master Plan
Pleasanton, CA
Master Planning helped to define overall scope and budgets and prioritize projects
In June 2016, the Pleasanton Unified School District passed a $270 million bond measure to provide much-needed funding to address a wide array of needs, including upgrades to existing campuses and infrastructure, the construction of a new elementary school, the addition of classroom spaces, and the replacement of portable classrooms District-wide.
Following bond measure approval of this measure, there was close collaboration with the District to refine its 2014 Facilities Master Plan. The update aimed to define project scopes and corresponding budgets more accurately and provide project prioritization recommendations to the Board.
Determining the project scope involved a comprehensive review of existing documents and conducting site visits of each campus with school principals, meetings with District Maintenance & Operations (M&O) staff, and with science teachers to conceptualize prototypes for science classrooms. A diverse planning committee met with District Facilities staff, HKIT, and the estimator to review and evaluate the scope, prioritize work, and develop board recommendations.
