Jefferson High School Gymnasium, Aquatic Center & Theater

Daly City, CA

The Gymnasium and Aquatic Center is an exciting addition to the Jefferson High School campus, strengthening the school’s programs for physical education, recreation, and athletics. The project is targeted for LEED certification.

The new Gymnasium spans 52,000 square-feet and serves as a hub for physical education and team sports. Welcoming visitors via entries on two floors, the facility includes a main court with retractable bleachers to seat 1,200, two cross courts, and a variety of spaces dedicated to the school’s physical and recreation program. The main lobby is designed to showcase school spirit with design elements using the school’s colors and grizzly bear mascot. Beyond the lobby on the main level are locker rooms, dance and general education classrooms, team rooms, and all-gender facilities.  A double-height fitness and weight room opens onto an outdoor sports court for indoor-outdoor class activities.

The Aquatic Center, with a 25-meter pool, accommodates a full aquatics education program, including swim classes and swim team practices and meets. Adjacent to the pool is a building with locker rooms, coach’s offices, all-gender facilities, and shower facilities.

Improvements to the campus’s existing Theater are being designed concurrently, which includes an addition and accessibility upgrades.
