Hopkins Middle School Conversion
Fremont, CA
To accommodate a 6th grade level, an existing junior high school is redesigned and converted to a middle school
This significant campus conversion project addresses the challenges of overcrowding and increased enrollment. The project involved the conversion of an existing junior high school into a middle school with the addition of the sixth-grade level, which expanded the school from 900 to 1,300 students. The transformation of the aging campus provides an even more supportive and engaging environment with robust technology and flexible learning environments.
In addition to the construction of new classroom and multipurpose buildings, the existing campus received extensive modernization, including mechanical and lighting replacement, fire alarm upgrades, roofing repairs, site improvements, and technology upgrades.
Programmatic changes included the reconfiguration of science classrooms into versatile learning spaces, a welcoming redesign of the administration wing, the relocation and enlargement of the library, and the creation of a new campus drop-off area for enhanced safety and security.
