Santa Rosa Junior College Roseland Campus Welcome Center
Santa Rosa, CA
A former K-12 campus is transformed into a vibrant campus welcome center
The redesign of Santa Rosa Junior College’s Roseland campus transforms a former K-12 site into a vibrant community college hub for the Roseland area in Santa Rosa. The project’s initial phase introduces the Roseland Campus Welcome Center as the first new building.
The center is designed to provide a warm and inclusive environment for first-time college attendees while serving as a social hub for all students. Strategically positioned to be easily visible from the street, it stands as a well-lit beacon, especially during evening classes.
Complimenting the existing architectural landscape, the Welcome Center’s design creates a cohesive campus. The building provides an intimately scaled structure with community-gathering porches and landscaped areas, enhancing the building’s front and quad areas.
The interior layout is thoughtfully organized, prioritizing services essential for new students near the entrance. An adjacent multi-purpose classroom and student lounge provide flexibility for larger events.

Hallways exceed standard widths to facilitate easy movement and clear visibility. Tall ceilings with clerestory windows bring natural light into the center of the building. Reflecting the campus’ cultural diversity, signage is displayed in multiple languages.
