Cottage Grove Elementary School Multipurpose Building

A flexible solution for recreation, events, and gathering
The new 3,752 square-foot multipurpose building at Cottage Grove Elementary School (formerly LEAD Elementary School) in San Mateo is a welcoming addition to the campus, equipped with a stage, kitchen, servery, support spaces, and a new modular lunch structure and play field. The multipurpose building serves a variety of purposes including the after-school program, flexible recreational activities, events, and meals with operable folding doors to allow for daylight and fresh air circulation. The building also includes a Community Resource Center that provides support and resources for students and families. The exterior plaza with landscaping completes the building’s welcoming presence on campus.
Additional work at the campus included an accessible drop-off, the relocation of the existing school playground, an artificial turf field, an improved blacktop area, and a new trash enclosure. The project was a part of the district’s Measure T bond program and all work was complete while the campus was occupied.
