Glenview Elementary School Replacement

Oakland, CA

Firmly embedded in a residential neighborhood, the replacement of Glenview Elementary School was designed through a highly collaborative process between the design team, district, and community members. The master plan for the new campus envisions state-of-the-art, flexible learning environments, new technology systems, and sustainable strategies. The building program includes classrooms for preschool, Kindergarten, special needs, and grades one through five; specialized art, music, and dance classrooms; library; multipurpose room; and administrative spaces.

Designed for Zero Net Energy (ZNE), the building employs efficient radiant heating systems, LED lighting, ceiling fans for cooling and comfort, operable windows for passive ventilation, daylighting strategies, and sophisticated EMS (Energy Management Systems) to manage overall energy consumption.
