Rotary Terrace
South San Francisco, CA
This affordable senior community was designed to address the need for higher density urban living in South San Francisco
The Rotary Terrace senior community is on an important urban infill site near City Hall in downtown South San Francisco. The development features 81 affordable apartments spread across four stories, above podium parking, and 6,500 square-feet of commercial space. It serves to revitalize the city’s central corridor and enliven the street frontage.
In a collaborative effort to embrace higher-density urban living, the City has played a crucial role, providing the land and advocating for optimized space utilization, transitioning from its former single-family residential and surface parking use. This new community serves as inspiration for other similar high-density developments. The design reflects the City’s view of its own future modernist urban vision.
