Willow Housing provides affordable, high-quality housing for homeless and at-risk Veterans. In-house supportive services promote wellness, vocational training, self-sufficiency and self-determination. A key priority in the design of the site was to coordinate with the Veterans Administration hospital’s historic buildings, while providing contemporary interior spaces and places for group socialization. Computers in the recreation room allow residents access to technology while connecting with others in a communal setting. A large, multi-functional community room provides room for gatherings, events, and socialization. Art was selected from a variety of Veteran artists, connecting with the residents on a personal level. Modern finishes in warm neutrals and greys allow accents of mustard yellow and blue to pop and vinyl plank flooring laid in a lively pattern adds interest to long corridors.
