HKIT Architects was one of three finalists in a Design-Build competition for the new Autotechnology Building at Solano Community College District’s Vallejo campus. The design for the new 30,000 SF building addresses the expansion of this important workforce development and training program by providing automotive repair and alignment bays, parts storage, manufacturers’ display area, a tutoring center/conference room and student lounge as well as two lecture classrooms. The design provides plentiful and controlled natural light to the high-bay repair instructional area through continuous clerestory glazing and skylights. A dramatic blue curved wall highlights the entry and provides a prominent landmark for the new campus.
Location: Vallejo, CA
Size: 30,000 SF
Sustainability: LEED Gold
